Course Overview
This Unit of Competence covers the basic principles of protection in explosive atmospheres of plant and machinery. Competence in this unit shall be assessed in combination with, or after gaining other competence required by a given industry or enterprise for plant or machinery operation or installations, maintenance or service functions. This unit of competency is based on various parts of IEC 60079 series.

  • Ex certification schemes
  • Ex Principles

  • Flameproof (Ex ‘d’) explosion-protection technique
  • Increased safety (Ex ‘e’) explosion-protection technique
  • Type of protection ‘n’ (Ex ‘n’)
  • Intrinsic safety (Ex ‘i’) explosion-protection techniques.

Target audience:
Basic level (Basic Electrical / Ex Knowledge)

Location:
All ATEC Locations (or client’s facility – subject to minimum numbers)

Duration:
Classroom: 1.5 days training / 0.5 day assessment
Blended Learning: Online at own pace / 0.5 day assessment

Pre-requisites:
There is no minimum level of technical education applicable for this unit of competence.
