ATEC Now Offers CompEx Statement of Partial Assessment (SoPA)

<<Blog Topic>>

The CompEx SoPA is a new alternative for CompEx certificate holders to maintain their certification active while they are unable to attend a Training Center for recertification.

As a result of the still ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, CompEx certificate holders have been unable to renew their CompEx certification at a CompEx Training Centre. SoPA is a new certification solution by the CompEx  Partial Assessment Programme that provides an employer with assurance that an individual has maintained a level of core knowledge associated with safety working in explosive atmospheres.

SoPA can be issue only to full CompEx course (Ex01 – Ex04) and Refresher (Ex01R – Ex04R)

Candidates can only apply for the Partial Assessment Programme through ATEC only if they fall into any of the below reasons:

  • Government, local authorities, or the applicant’s employer have imposed travel restrictions, self-isolation (“lockdown”), have cancelled all events or have closed all education establishments.
  • Training centers are closed and have canceled courses due to Covid-19.
  • The applicant’s previous travel history prevents them from attending a CompEx training center.
How is the process of getting a SoPA?
It consists of a multiple choice exam with 32 questions to be answered in 50 minutes. The online assessment is invigilated by ATEC staff, and it does not need an specific software. ATEC will provide a link and a code to the candidate to start their exam. Once the exam has successfully passed a SoPA will be issued and valid for up to 12 months from the exam passing date. Note, according to the PArtial Assessment Programme guidelines, future certifications will be backdated to a candidate’s original certification expiration date.
